The University of Lausanne (UNIL, French: Universite de Lausanne), is a university located in Lausanne in Switzerland. It was established in 1537 as a school of Protestant Theology. In 1890, it became a university. It is the second-oldest university in Switzerland and the oldest that remains in continuous operation. The university is home to approximately 15,000 students and 3300 employees, as of fall 2017. The university has 120 nationalities represented, and approximately 1,500 international students. It offers a broad curriculum that includes exchange programs with other world-renowned universities.
