Vinayaka Missions University was established in 1981 by the Thirumuruga Kirupananda Variyar Thavathiru Sundara Swamigal (TKVTSS) Medical Educational and Charitable Trust. In 2001, it was recognised by UGC as deemed to be university under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956. The university is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The varsity campus covers an area of 271 acres and it has 217 faculty members. As per the official website, Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation vision is to use education as a tool to bring social change in the society.
It offers 43 programmes at diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate level. The university provides admission on merit basis and entrance exam. NATA and JEE Main paper 2 scores are taken into consideration for B.Arch admissions. VMU conducts counselling for admission in all its programmes. The varsity has collaboration with numerous foreign institutions/universities. The students of Vinayaka Missions University are provided with various state level and national level scholarships.
