Materials engineers are responsible of conducting analysis on materials for their company. They are accountable for completing objective material performance assessments and making recommendations for modifications and adjustments. They offer technical assistance for other teams in order to purchase new materials that meet the requirements of the project, and also use their expertise in engineering to create new products and improve the manufacturing and production processes. Materials engineers collaborate with other engineers to increase the quality and efficiency of their work. They also keep track of equipment inventory and purchase new materials when required.
