Training and development instructional designers are accountable for the development and creation of instructional materials like work-based curricula for companies or schools as well as other organisations. These "designers" concentrate on the effectiveness of the curriculum and lesson plans, and are also responsible for the evaluation of instructional methods.
The people in this position "teach the teachers" by creating educational training materials for organizations and businesses as well as the teachers, instructors and trainers they hire. A bachelor's degree is an essential requirement for the job, and a strong technical skills are often needed to utilize, or create, online courses to help employees learn.
Instructional designers should be able to work in teams and meet corporate deadlines. They should also have flexible schedules as well as the capacity to lead and implement projects for learning and training. Other duties could include regular contact with employees, capturing information and notes on the curriculum as well as attending meetings and training sessions. Candidates for this position must be able to solve problems effectively and a thorough understanding of tools and technologies to develop training, and the ability to work for all week long whenever it is necessary.
