Back-end engineers and developers play an essential part in the digital initiatives, since they are the ones responsible for developing and maintaining the website of the company and its various components. They also manage the forms, pages and functions, databases and web servers. They must be proficient in server-side languages like PHP, Ruby, and Python as well as relational databases such as SQL data type, or non-relational databases such like MongoDB. Back-end engineers and developers must be able to create JavaScript handles in the browser to act as an interface between the user interface and the development engine, typically using a framework such as Zend or Cake, or a CMS such as WordPress as well as Drupal.
Back-end engineers and developers should possess the necessary technical expertise and a basic understanding of web server configurations to be able to alter and maintain the elements across different platforms. They should be in a constant state of learning and studying various programming languages like PHP, Ruby, Python, and JavaScript to keep up-to-date, and be able to work under pressure as they are the final link in the chain. They have to deal with any issues that arise that have arisen from previous development phases and come up with innovative and adaptable solutions.
Back-end engineers and developers must be able to work as part of a team to contribute and understand the initial stages of development, and they should be at ease working on their own and spending the majority of their time in front of the computer in an office however, interactions with colleagues and customers is required in this job.
