These responsibilities include a wide variety of activities, from wide-scope strategic planning of advertising campaigns to the day-to-day management of marketing activities. They contribute to the general strategic plan as designed by the brand manager and then use that plan as a guideline to implement specific marketing techniques. They analyze market and consumer research, as well as their competitor’s marketing and product development, to update current strategies as well as establish new goals. Assistant brand managers also meet with clients to receive feedback on marketing efforts and branding ideas, as well as establish and enforce project budgets. Assistant brand managers’ primary responsibility is to develop the best marketing campaign for a specific product, line, and/or company based on consumer perceptions, its purpose, and feedback generated by sales personnel and the client’s wishes.

Assistant brand managers work primarily in an office environment during regular business hours, although overtime is a possibility as project deadlines approach. Frequent travel may be necessary, as client outreach and communication is essential to this position. They must meet often with the sales team, marketing team, and management to give updates on campaign progress and receive feedback to determine strategic changes.
