National Institute of Technology (NIT) Raipur is a public technical and research institute that was founded in 1956 with two engineering disciplines – Metallurgy and Mining. It is an institute of National importance which was declared an NIT on 1st December 2005. The institute offers 5-year, 4-year and 2-year programmes, such as B.Tech, B.Arch., M.Tech and MCA. It also offers doctoral degrees in the field of Science and Technology. NIT Raipur is committed to developing technical education by preparing experienced graduates in the field of engineering and technology. In the NIRF Engineering Rankings of 2021, the institute has been ranked 64th.
The vision of the institute is to develop as a leading technical institute of the country and create high-quality human and knowledge resources. It aims to revamp engineering education and shape young students into rational thinking engineers. NIT Raipur wants to attract highly qualified, talented and motivated faculty and create an environment to make teaching more learning-centric. The curriculum for the courses is revised every four years, new courses are introduced, and the evaluation system is reviewed. The NIT Raipur dispensary is situated near the side of the NCC office. It has two rooms for the doctors and one room for the staff. The medical facilities available in the dispensary include free distribution of medicines, free ODP consultation, free ambulance service for hospitalization to all the students and staff members.
