Quality control (QC) experts are responsible for supervising the quality control of their organizations and resolving quality-related issues when they occur. They also conduct quality-related tests to ensure that products conform to the requirements of their company and lawful standards. Quality control professionals must have excellent communication skills to communicate important quality control principles to non-technical and technical professionals. They must also possess an excellent analytical ability to spot quality issues and devise suitable solutions in a timely way. In all their work, they must adhere to relevant safety rules.
The Quality Control Specialists' primary duties also involve providing information on quality control to employees and managers within their company and making use of computers to monitor outputs, gauge materials, and carry out deviation control. They also have the responsibility of keeping accurate quality records to be used for future reference, and provide assistance to tests and inspection procedures when required. Quality control specialists typically are employed in a production or manufacturing environment and must wear protective equipment as needed.
A bachelor's degree from an area of similar expertise is usually required for this position and previous experience in a similar position. Qualifications in quality control could be helpful. Quality control professionals must be organized and pay careful attention to the finer points to improve the quality of their processes and improve effectiveness. They must be able to function in a group environment and also independently with little supervision.
