A client services specialist fulfills a number of essential tasks related to delivering a product or service to a client.In many industries, a client services specialist assists a project manager. In this role, they help the manager establish the parameters and requirements of a project or work with a particular client. The specialist then helps the project manager divide the project into portions that can be delegated, and they then assist in the delegation of each task. While each portion of the task is being completed, the client services specialist writes reports describing project progress, team performance, and supply inventory. Upon completion of the tasks by the technical teams, the client services specialist helps the project manager with integration and testing.After the product has been delivered to the client, the client services specialist helps with the development of training manuals and materials, as well as any other training that clients need to use the newly developed product. After successfully dealing with the clients' questions and concerns, the services specialist files post-project reports with the company detailing successes and lessons learned.Client services specialists must have excellent organizational skills, as well as superb attention to detail. They also must be excellent communicators who can understand the jargon of technical teams and clients' needs, helping to facilitate communication among those groups.
