Description

Product engineers design and create products, either for the consumer sector or various industries, and also analyze the market and competing products in order to determine customers' needs.Product engineers must be familiar with all parts of the product development cycle and up-to-date with all new technological advancements. Once a product idea has been crafted, feasibility analyses should be carried out to determine if a budget exists for the product and its potential to be profitable. After a product has been deployed, product engineers may need to provide support and issue fixes or improvements if problems are reported. Some products are discontinued when they do not sell well on the market.Product engineers should be present for all steps of the product development cycle, and some of the work is done independently, but it's important to be able to work well with others during these stages to successfully bring new products to the market. A bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or a related field and a portfolio of past work may be required for this position.
