Project analysts are accountable for directing the development of new projects by conducting special research, analysis of data, and data collection in order to support the strategic decision-making process for their companies. They also study and develop innovative projects using logic frameworks and other tools offered by the company.
Project analysts should be comfortable creating and presenting concepts to enhance current strategies for planning, considering different scenarios to anticipate the effects they could impact the company. They also have the responsibility of gathering the necessary information to plan projects by using a variety of methods like interviewing, statistics, market trends, or laws relevant to projects, and analysing the data they have that is gathered.
Analysts for projects must also evaluate every project's economic and financial feasibility and the budget for investment, and are accountable for the administration of the project (estimates as well as cost management) and monitoring the tasks that are assigned to every project. While project analysts are part of teams, they need to be able to collaborate with other departments within the organization and, in certain instances teams outside of the company who contract for research.
The person in this position can organize the field and operational tests necessary to ensure the secure development and execution of work-related projects, and they may also write and present reports on the progress of projects to their supervisors according to timeframes. An undergraduate degree from a business school is typically required for this job, however, this is dependent on the sector, and certain employers might prefer applicants with a master's degree or at the very least 2 years' working experience in the field.
