Facilities directors are in a higher-level management post. They also have to create and oversee budgets for their company's facility-related tasks. People in this role typically work in offices as well as on-site in the facilities they manage. They might need to visit clients on weekends or after normal working hours. Facilities directors could be called upon to respond to emergencies that require immediate attention.
Employers usually require a bachelor's degree as well as trade certification or similar job experience. Candidates should possess strong negotiation and customer service abilities, along with supervisory knowledge. They should also possess the ability to work in a multi-tasking environment and effectively in a group.
