Clinical assistants are accountable to assist clinical professionals in daily clinical tasks within their workplace. They are responsible for managing administrative tasks and more complicated clinical tasks. Their primary responsibilities include coordination of the front desk's responsibilities, and keeping correct documentation, as well maintaining accurate inventory and supplies records, and ordering new products when required. They also perform routine duties in the clinic, such as drawing blood and taking temperature and develop training programs that increase their efficiency and help in other tasks within the clinic.

Clinical assistants also take care of cleaning and maintaining medical devices to ensure they function correctly. They operate and handle medical equipment as required and submit forms to appropriate personnel, and participate in work meetings to propose changes to processes. They use computers to make appointments, handle patient information and maintain accurate notes of interactions to be used in the future. They communicate their progress to their supervisors or the clinical the manager of their area.

An undergraduate degree from a school of clinical or in a related field is required to be able to perform this job.
